Does Jesus get annoyed with us like the apostles?

Matthew 17:16-17 I took him to your disciples and they were unable to cure him. 'In reply, Jesus said, ‘Faithless and perverse generation! How much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me.’

I like to think that when Jesus does stuff like this, it’s because He is fully divine and knows how damaging sin is for our souls. It isn’t so much annoyance, as it is emphasis. He wants to make sure we know how important salvation is.

That said, since Jesus knows ahead of time if we will repent, it could also be more like sorrow for our sin, than annoyance that He feels. No point in feeling annoyed if He knows our ultimate choice. But then, there is no sorrow in Heaven…so…

He does look upon us in the same way as the disciples. He might laugh with us when funny things happen in our lives, he is happy when we do good.

It is a scathing statement to shake us into getting better spiritually. To let us know that we can always do better, even overcome the world like He did.

If I sin. I think with great horror at Jesus being angry with me, since I love Jesus. That too, keeps me from sins sometimes.

The whole “nice guy” Jesus thing seems like a relatively new phenomenon. The Jesus of the gospels and of the historical church is pretty harsh
