Does logic exist?

If it does, what is it?

What is it ontological nature?

I find this interesting and fundamental.

I am asking mostly to learn and I will enjoy hearing or reading the different thoughts and explanations.

THANKS!!!

This is to be serious and I am not trying to cause problems.

How is it related to math and reason?

What is the mass of logic?

Can the physical scientist use it if it cannot be measured or counted?

How would that apply to math?

THANKS!

I’m no expert at all at logic (or philosophy for that matter) but I do know some fairly simple things about logic.

Logic is found through human reasoning. Logic leads to an ultimate truth, so there cannot be logical statements that lead to different “truths”. In Math, I don’t know how to say the exact terms of logic and math but I do know that Mathematical Induction is very logical (This the domino effect. 1+1=2 always and forever, never anything else. If 3 dominoes fall and hit 4 more dominoes you do not have 16 dominoes, but rather you have 7.)

If i am wrong please people correct me because I would like to know and learn. Thank you.

Also, Logic is found in English alot also especially in debates.

All your questions are themselves predicated on the existence of logic. If logic doesn’t exist, then the statement “logic doesn’t exist” is meaningless.

If you are really interested in Logic, I highly recommend Socratic Logic by Peter Kreeft. I don’t know of a better book on the subject. Of course you have to enjoy reading logic textbooks to enjoy it, but hey some of us do!

Do you accept that 1+1 always equals two?
If so logic exists.
It is a way of learning new certitudes from more primitive ones.

Oh, yes, I agree that logic exists.

THANKS!
Logic is the science of demonstration, using necessary principles. Necessary principles are the fundamental building blocks of reasoning, and will include things like definitions and axioms (truths that cannot be reduced to any other principle, or self-evident truths). In terms of its ‘ontology’, logic participates in the nature of truth itself, which is a correspondence between something in the intellect and something in reality.

You might find the following useful to you: the first link is to St Thomas’ Commentary on Aristotle’s Posterior Analytics, where he discusses the nature of logic. The second is the question on the nature of truth found in the De Veritate.
