Luther added the word “alone” to Romans 3:28 and invented a whole new system of theology (Sola Fide) based on this adulteration.
Luther strongly defended his gloss, although just eight years after the publication of his December Bible a Low German translation of Hieronymus Emser’s parallel work (without the gloss) largely supplanted Luther’s efforts.
I wonder, though, if there is ANY edition of the Bible that is in print today which includes the gloss. I have checked thirty (30) different translations (both Catholic and protestant) and have not found any.
Does anyone know of ANY Bible ANYWHERE which is in print today that actually includes Luther’s gloss?
