I need a simple “yes” or 'no" answer .
(( in the same context as a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question such as:
“As a practising faithful Catholic, can I be married in a same sex marriage? Answer = no”. ))

Does the church officially permit the death penalty? Yes or No ?

Really struggling to sift through the muriad of commentary on this, and find the “official” church teaching on this point.
Understood, it is highly debated, and our past and current popes are NOT supporting the death penalty. And that if it is supported, the conditions for it are extremely rare.

But, what is the official church teaching? ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

Blessings,
