Generally, no. But I would think that this could be something that would be decided in degrees.
Some people say that it’s not the first look that gets you into trouble, it’s the second. Meaning that when you actively decide to engage the sin, that’s when you have consent and are into trouble. I.E. you struggle with lust and a beautiful woman walks by. You glance that way and then look away. No sin there, but if you turn around and stare and entertain the thoughts that’s where the sin occurs.
That being said, your actions up to the impulsive incident may be the cause of the impulsive incident and you would still be culpable. For example, if you intentionally get drunk and then impulsively hit someone I would say there is still culpability there. Or putting yourself into a situation where you know there is a very high probability of you getting into a situation where you be seriously tempted to do something sinful.

I am just trying to figure out of I committed a mortal sin or not. I committed a grave sin against chastity but I was very impulsive in deciding to do it.

God does not deceive. Go to Him. Examine your conscience with the intent of deciding if the sin you commited is grave or not. If in good conscience you know it wasn´t grave, then, it was a sin, but venial. If however you know that it was grave, then your venial sin lead you to grave sin. God has rescued me many times when I turned to Him in impulsive moments. I pray everyday for those, who are enslaved by impulsive thoughts or actions. I´m sure many others do too. For me it´s impossible to sin while praying. God bless:thumbsup:

Look, the most beautiful show that I like is the horserider and the horse.
Look, the horse flees away from danger in a natural state.
But, slowly, patiently, with respect to its natural identity, you can educate a horse to run, run obstacle, face a bull in a bullfight, goes around a snake, face demonstrations in riots, even, in the old times, face the perils of war.
Or body is animal and as such reacts like an animal.
But we have a Soul guided by God. Sometimes the Soul is against animal instincts in us, like pleasure, sex, envy, fear, greed.
With great care and persistence, we may be able to drive our body to do extremely good feats of courage at the service of God. Look at St. theresa of Calcutta caring the lepers or St. damien, St. Francis of Assisi, the martyrs who put their bodies to death in honor and respect to God.
