  1. What type of revelation have you received by praying to saint s ?? and
  2. what saints do you pray to for help and revelation and understanding?

  1. None, I don’t think I pray for revelation.
  2. a. Mary, b. none, c. none.

  1. None…yet!
  2. In order, I direct my prayers to:
God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Mother Mary, St Joseph, St Rita, St Jude, St Patrick, St Thomas…

  1. I don’t “pray to saints” expecting “revelation”. In fact I don’t expect “revelation” at all. If God chooses to send me some revelation, or some revelation would come to me through His mother, I will try to be open to it and accept it but it’s not something one expects to appear.
  2. a) What saints do I pray to for help? I pray to Mary but I don’t consider her a saint, she’s the Mother of God which is a higher level than saints.
Some of my other favorite saints are St. Joseph, St. Jude (Dad’s patron saint), St. Therese of Lisieux (Mom’s patron saint), St. Patrick (I’m mostly Irish), St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Anthony (for lost objects especially), St. Padre Pio, St. Thomas More, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Martha, lots of others. I might try to pick the one that’s the special patron of what I am praying about. I also like Blessed Michael Pro, Blessed Jerzy Popieluszcko, and Venerable Fulton Sheen though they are not saints yet.
b) What saints do I pray to for revelation? I don’t. See (1).

c) What saints do I pray to for understanding? I don’t, except for Mary who is more than a saint. I would ask her to please give me the graces necessary to help me to understand.
Basically you are praying to a saint to help you with something, or to pray for you. In the case of Mary, in addition to asking for her help and prayers, you can ask for her protection or to give you graces. Other types of prayers should be directed to Jesus

Praying ‘WITH’ saints to God may help… praying ‘TO’ them may be an error…

Rather than praying to saints for revelation maybe you should look for a good spiritual director.

The letter of James says that the Holy Spirit gives wisdom abundantly to those who seek it. How can I pass up a deal like that? especially when I need it so much?

I think it is good to pray for Saints to intervene in hard parts of our lives. Although it may seem unusual to some, I’ve prayed for the assistance from St. Kateri Tekakwitha on certain occasions. It helps when you are condemned for faith when others are being unsupportive and there are Saints who endured a similar fate.

Private revelation comes from God through the saints; He decides what is revealed. We pray to the saints for their intercession with God.

We don’t need any further revelation. Everything required for our faith and salvation has already been revealed.

I’ve only received revelations when asking our Blessed Mother to pray for me, and praying to Jesus.

The saints I ask to pray FOR me are St. Pio and St. Bernadette. My confirmation saint was Catherine of Sienna, but I tend to go to St. Pio and St. Bernadette the most. I consider Saint Bernadette to be my patron saint. I feel a real kinship with her for some reason.

I read something somewhere that was beautiful. It basically said that when you feel attracted to a certain Saint, that the saint has chosen you! I’d love to think St. Pio and St. Bernadette chose me. 😃

Once I prayed to St Anthony of Padua for his help in finding a set of keys that someone had lost and as soon as I finished my prayer I got a strong and persistent idea I should look for it in a certain place and, when I did, that is where I found the keys.

A co-worker was working late one night and when she was finally ready to leave she couldn’t find her car keys. She informed me of her situation and I said a short prayer to St Anthony asking for his help in finding the lost keys. I immediately got a strong and persistent idea that I should look for the keys in what seemed a very unlikely place, outside the building in the large recycling bin. I went outside and lifted the lid of the recycle bin, moved some of the papers around and, sure enough, there were her keys. We aren’t exactly sure how her keys ended up in the large recycling bin outside the building but we think that she had accidentally thrown her keys into the small paper recycling container next to the office copier machine she had been using earlier along with some unwanted papers. Later, a custodian making his rounds had emptied the contents of the small paper recycling container into the large outside recycling bin without realizing my co-worker’s keys were mixed in with the discarded papers. Thanks be to God and St Anthony we found her keys when we did as the large outside recycling bin was scheduled to be emptied and the contents taken way to the recycling center early the next morning and her keys probably would have been lost forever.

That is beautiful 🙂 I wonder if that works for Blesseds too. My favorite not-quite-a-saint-yet is Blessed Miguel Pro. I discovered his story when I was about 13 and have been fascinated with him ever since.
