Does scripture point to who two witnesses will be?

I am wondering if scripture or catholic doctrine tells who the two witnesses may be? Does anyone think we will be well aware of them or will we only be aware too late? Just wondering what others thoughts are or where in the bible this may be. :o
 
Scripture does not explicitley name these two witnesses, it is only implied. For instance, check out Malachi Ch.4:4-5, and Matt.17:11 where it names one of the witnesses. Ecclesiasticus 44:16 names Enoch as the other. And there seems to be a unanimity of the Church Fathers in saying that they are Enoch and Elijah.Needless to say, the Church teaches that if there is unanimity of the Church Fathers regarding matters of faith and mo

rals, it is considered a dogmatic teaching or Sacred Tradition. Hope this helps.
 
Don’t Catholics refer to “Elijah” as Elias, even in English? I never use the name Elijah when talking about him. Just wondering…Sorry about the non-sequiter, but the first responder seems to have taken care of the question.
 
I looked up Elijah in the encyclopedia and it said that both Elias and Elijah are acceptable. I have seen Catholic writers on various websites use Elijah, so I assume that it’s okay. It’s interesting to note that the King James Bible says Elijah in the O.T. and Elias in the New. So it seems to be a matter of taste I guess. I am kind of partial to Elijah as I grew up on the King James version as a protestant. Old habits die hard! I became a convert to Catholicsm about 1 year ago and use only the Douay version(as a matter of taste). I’m wondering if any other Catholic versions might perhaps use the Elijah spelling?

According to the Synaxarion note on Judgement Sunday (aka Meatfare Sunday; the second Sunday before Lent begins, corresponding to the old Sexagesima Sunday), the two witnesses are Elijah and Enoch.
