Does Scripture supersede Tradition, at least in practice?

I’m considering coming back to the Church but, as a die-hard protestant, my wife is having a hard time with it. One question she asked me regarding Tradition is:

“If Tradition and scripture are equals, and Tradition cannot contradict scripture, doesn’t it follow that scripture does in fact supersede Tradition in practice?”

How would you respond to that objection? I can’t find a good answer.
