I recently read an article about an American Catholic Church celebrating a “mass” for marriage for a same sex couple. What I would like to know: does this branch of Christianity have Apostolic Succession, and administer valid sacraments such as the Eucharist? I know they are not in communion with the Roman Rite…

Thank you

The “American Catholic Church” is an offshoot of the “Old Catholic Church” and is considered to have valid apostolic succession. Their sacraments are generally considered valid (except where issues of faculties and requirements of the laity are concerned). Obviously marrying two men or two women would not be a valid sacrament since the sacrament of marriage requires a man and a woman.
At some point their sacramental theology may veer so far from Catholic principles that their ordinations may no longer be considered valid, but at this point in time the Church has not taken that view.
