Your post #23 explained a lot. I suspect that the publishing company was one which favored the background of the church you were raised in.
We all start from the backgrounds we are given as children, and that can be hard to overcome. God bless you on your journey. It does not sound particularly easy. I hope what I have said may be of some help.
