Does the church have too much money?

Why some Catholic Churches in poor countries are keeping real gold. Visited one in Nicaragua where the beggars are everywhere specially children, but some Catholic churches are keeping magnificent gold art protected behind bars? How can i understand thing like that according to MK 10:17-30 ?
