Does the Church recognize this marriage as valid?

Brief background: Wife grew up catholic, husband did not. Married in non-denominational ceremony. 1 yr later, husband decides he wished to become a catholic. Will the church view the marriage as valid or will another ceremony need to take place with a priest??
 
Dear jc2,

Since the wife is a Catholic and married outside of the Catholic Church, the marriage is not valid. The couple will have to have the marriage convalidated (blessed).
