Does the Easter Vigil satisfy the Sunday Easter obligation?

We always go to the Vigil on Saturday evening and we also go to mass on Easter Sunday. A girl I work with said they only go to the Vigil mass and it satisfies their obligation so they don’t go to mass on Easter Sunday.

Most definitely. It is the most important Vigil. It is the Mother of all Vigils and the most solemn liturgical celebration of the year. By all means this will satisfy the Easter Sunday obligation and more.👍
 
I enjoy attending both! But yes, the vigil satisfies the requirement.

Catholics follow the tradition that the Jews used to: that the next day starts at sundown (evening came, and morning came, the first day… note the scripture begins the days with the evening). Hence all saturday vigil masses satisfy sunday obligation.
