No, He does not.

This verse is very profound.

In hebrew, God calls them ‘Elohey’ (‘gods’ in your text version), which literally means ‘powerful ones”. In this verse, God says that even the powerful ones on earth are no match to ‘He who IS’ (His name, adapted, since I dare not say His name here).

And He declares that He is going to prove His superiority by striking down all the first-borns in Egypt.

We recognize that there are beings that may have been worshipped as gods, but these are not actually gods. For instance, demons.

The Bible records, “I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,” Isaiah 45:5

I would add that because Egyptians were pagans, and ‘sacred’ animals which were representations of their deities were kept across the country, the simultaneous deaths of their first borns would be considered a heavy judgement against the Egyptian Gods.

“god/s” is not an acknowledgement that there exist other god/s; nor is it by any means a way to authenticate the existence of other god/s. Rather, it is an acknowledgement that the Hebrews and other peoples do hold on to notions of there being god/s other than Yahweh God the True and only God.

Consider “American idol.” Is that an authentication of American god/s or the idea that people place things and other people above them as gods?

God tells us that the other gods are false and are dead. They sit in a temple and can’t chase birds or cats away that roost on their heads.

it means gods. The gods Egyptians worshiped such as Ra and Anubis and even Pharaoh himself.

God was showing himself to be the true God. The one God. Stronger than all the gods Egypt worshiped in vain because they weren’t real.
