Does the OT Joseph prefigure St. Joseph, husband of Mary?

And, what does the OT Joseph illustrate for us? What can we learn from him and apply to the New Testament in typology?
 
OT Joseph foreshadows the suffering and salvation one for us by out Lord Jesus Christ. Like Jesus, Joseph was the victim of jealousy and rejection by his brothers, the children of Israel (Jacob), and is sold for twenty pieces of silver into slavery in Egypt. Even after all this, Joseph forgives his brothers and saves them from death. Hope this helps.

I can’t see any connection between our St Joseph and the Joseph of the OT except for the name and that they both spent some time in Egypt.

Joseph of the OT reached the apex of power in Egypt under pharaoh and yet was able to forgive his brothers for selling him into slavery (which is how he got to Egypt in the first place). He teaches us about the power of forgiveness and being humble despite being rich and of high status. He never forgot his roots or his God.

Have any Pontiffs mentioned the OT Joseph in encyclicals or their writings?
 
I understand that Joseph (OT) does pre-figure Joseph (NT).

Both Joseph’s were able to interpret dreams.
Both Joesph’s took their families to Egypt to save them.

And I think there were 1 or 2 more, but I can’t recall.

Also…

Both of their fathers were named Jacob
Both were entrusted with an exceptional responsibility.

The NT Joseph and OT Joseph are definitely linked in some way. There are no coincidences.
