Does the pope teach us that evolution is false?

I have browsed a few of the evolution vs creationism threads here, but they all seem to end up in ties. I have decided that the best way for me to find out the truth is to find out exactly what the pope teaches. Does the pope teach us that evolution is false? Is the pope himself a creationist? This can apply to either Benedict or John Paul the second, but I’m sure they had the same beliefs
 
The Catholic Church teaches that God is the creator of all things, and that man has a soul and is distinct from the animals. The bottom line is that the theory (or theories) of evolution is a scientific dispute, not a theological one. The real messsage is that God created the earth and everything in it, and that man fell through the error of Adam and Eve, the first of mankind.
