Does the role of female pastoral administrator include this?

I recently attended Mass where a Priest Moderator sat on the altar and listened while a female Pastoral Administrator said the whole Mass…except for the Consecration Prayer. The Priest Moderator said the Consecration Prayer. What is the Role of a pastoral administrator within parish life and regarding Mass? and…What is the role of a Priest Moderator within parish life and regarding Mass? Thank-you for your response.

Hi,

I’m sure you mean that the priest sat AT the altar and not on it. The role of pastoral administrator (female or male) is primarily an administrative job and not a liturgical one. The woman had no right to do anything in the sanctuary other than act as lector and / or extraordinary minister of the Eucharist if needed. The priest was OBLIGED to perform all the functions that are required of the presider at Mass. This should be brought to the attention of the bishop.
