Hello

What are your views on souls who died without believing in God? and denied that there was a God?

God Bless

From the Catechism:
The necessity of faith
161 Believing in Jesus Christ and in the One who sent him for our salvation is necessary for obtaining that salvation.42 “Since “without faith it is impossible to please [God]” and to attain to the fellowship of his sons, therefore without faith no one has ever attained justification, nor will anyone obtain eternal life ‘But he who endures to the end.’”
We must balance this with the teaching that those ignorant of the Name of Jesus may also be saved. The dinstinction is made between explicit faith [in Christ] and implicit faith [in Chirst, although one does not know His Name]. Bottom line, faith In Jesus Christ-- whether implicit or explicit-- is necessary for salvation.

As with all us sinners, who in our sin and disobedience deny God’s authority, our eternal fate is in His hands alone. We are ever blessed by His mercy here on earth and pray that we also receive the same at the time of our death. For at that moment we cannot know another’s heart or yearning to see God, and even believers who die with an unconfessed mortal sin on their soul need His special mercy.

I hope and pray God is merciful towards them all. One of my kids went through that ‘phase’ and another is there now. I pray for them constantly, and I trust the Lord will bring them home to the Chuch safely.

Many people go through periods of doubt or denial or rebellion. The lucky ones see their mistakes and return to the faith. Who knows how God deals with those who stay away indefinitely.

IF they manage to lead upright lives maybe they get off with time in Purgatory. IF they turn towards a very sinful life they may not be so fortunate. Either way they need our prayers.

Actually along with JPII I say, “we entrust them to the arms of God” Faith is a gift, not everyone gets it apparently. The decision about their eternal life does not rest with me, but with Him. So far He has managed the world quite nicely without my (name removed by moderator)ut so I leave it there.

It seems to me that we ought to worry more about what falls under our own purview - that is our own lives here on earth rather than spend time worrying about where anyone else is going… If everyone took care of their own souls as best as they could - the doors to heaven would have to expand to hold us all. And many on earth would grow a faith from observing us.

My attitude is, I suppose, that when I stand for judgment, God won’t ask me about my neighbors, my friends or acquaintances – the conversation is going to focus on …me… and what I did or did not do - how I used His gifts and opportunities. Right now that’s enough for me to think about.

Those people are probably going to hell.

Hello

Some good points made by those who replied, the conversion of poor sinners is more greatly now that ever before.

Yes as Catholic Christian we should show good examples.

The question was really for another one saying that there was no hell.

But I am not one to judge, but I believe when we repent we are forgiven.

The question God may ask you, is did you do anything and everything to help those who lost their way ?

Is simply prayer enough ? We have a responsibility to admonish those who have fallen away for the faith and maybe convert unbelievers, especially our family members.

The question Cain asks is, are we our brother keepers, and I think the answer in many ways is YES we are. We are the instruments of God on earth, IF we don’t do it, who will ???

I think that comes under helping our “fellow man” and I suppose I stand more with St. Francis who suggested we look to our own state of grace and then if required use words.

Strong words. I could’ve told you all that.
