Does your church use the Apostles' Creed?

Our Church uses a projector rather than Missal. Not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, you’d don’t see rows of people with their faces buried in texts–on the other, I’m not sure I care for something projected up towards the altar–it seems too casual to me. But then, I’m getting older… 🙂

In my parish it is always the Nicene Creed, often called the symbol of faith. I don’t think Orthodox ever use the Apostles Creed or even reckonises it.

I remember once at a non-Orthodox church in El Paso a church where everyone but me knelt at the Incarnatus and I was the only one standing and bowed!

I do. I go to Mass in a monastery and the monks always bow, as do a few of us in the pews (mostly oblates as it turns out, but a few who aren’t). I don’t feel self-conscious at all though.

Interestingly enough last Sunday for some reason I was distracted while chanting the creed, and did forget to bow. I realized it somewhat further along the creed. Oh well, we’re only human 🤷
I wasn’t expecting the bows but quickly learned to listen for specific words while attending my first LOTH at the monastery. Hardly missed a bow during the next four – and when we say bow here we mean profound bow, not just a bow of the head.
But I missed it during Creed. :o

I chose “sometimes,” though “almost always” would more closely reflect reality. We might recite the Nicene Creed a few times a year, or not at all, or more than just a few times. It depends upon the pastor.

The rest of the time the Apostles’ Creed is used.

I say sometimes as I hear it recited in other churches I visit. Most of the time, its the Nicene Creed being recited unless we have a baptism where we do the baptismal promises before the baptism takes place or the sprinkling rite (during Easter time).

In my LCMS church we say the Apostles Creed on non communion Sundays and the Nicene Creed when we celebrate communion. We also use the Athanasian Creed on Trinity Sunday.

I’ve only known my (Episcopal) church to use it during Baptism services.
