Yes, but he’s from Africa and sometimes difficult to understand, especially if he begins getting excited. But what I have been able to glean from them has been exceptionally good.

The homilies are good. Only complaint is that I’ve heard the themes hundreds of times and I have a tendency to “tune out.” I know what is coming.
What I wish is for more teaching of why we believe what we do. Not every Sunday, but sporadically. Too many people have been poorly catechized. But alas, from what I understand, the bishops want something “inspirational.”

You need not hate anything or anyone.
Just do right and love everyone.
I will pray for the hate in your heart.

OK. thanks.

This from Bishop Sheen

Christian love bears evil, but it does not tolerate it.

It does penance for the sins of others, but it is not broadminded about sin.

The cry for tolerance never induces it to quench its hatred of the evil philosophies that have entered into contest with the Truth.

It forgives the sinner, and it hates the sin; it is unmerciful to the error in his mind.

The sinner it will always take back into the bosom of the Mystical Body;
but his lie will never be taken into the treasury of His Wisdom.

Real love involves real hatred:
whoever has lost the power of moral indignation and the urge to drive the buyers and sellers from the temples has also lost a living, fervent love of Truth.

Charity, then, is not a mild philosophy of “live and let live”;
it is not a species of sloppy sentiment.

Charity is the infusion of the Spirit of God,
which makes us love the beautiful and hate the morally ugly.

Do what you want, I choose not to hate. I focus on trying to love right by God, to put God at the center of my life, and to love and serve my brothers and sisters on Earth.
Jesus taught us to live by the Ten Commandments and to love one another. His message was one of love, not hate.
In the zeal many of my brothers and sisters have about hating the sin, the often get distracted and begin to hate those who sin.

The priests who come from a different continent can add their own cultural flavor to the homily which can be refreshing. The linguistics of their native language can also have an effect on the words they choose to use, and how they string those words together to articulate an idea. They can show a new perspective on a subject that has been heard many times.

Beautiful homilies! I love them! Not everyone does, though. Some people find them a little bit too complex or hard to follow, and it’s true you can’t let your mind wander or you’ll be completely lost, but so often it’s like he was reading my journal and is just speaking directly to me.
