Heathen Dawn:
IÕm not in the business of converting people to my own religion, so I donÕt pose challenges save in retaliation to being challenged myself.
Peace be with you Heathen Dawn,
May God bring you peace and blessings. Amen.
I noticed you posit that you are a Wiccan (i.e. Pagan). I was in Las Vegas in the summer and I walked into an egyptian crafts store to look at all the very interesting egyptian statues. I was looking to pick up something neat for my wife, who loves egyptian things. Well, as I entered the store a young lady approached me. I noticed right away she appeared under the influence of something (perhaps alcohol). She got in my face and said
“What is the deal with Jesus, I mean, he’s a man from 2000 years ago and like what is that compared with Isis? I mean, is a man who lived 2000 years ago more important than The Goddess?”
As a practicing Catholic I was concerned with what to say. I simply said,
I don’t know anything about God’s and Goddesses’ because My God was beyond any conventional dualisms such as “male” or “female” and that anyone who finds it necessary to “project” a sex upon God was in essence worshipping themselves.
I knew from the look on your face that she wasn’t clear as to my meaning and so in order to avoid any further escalation I simply moved on with my shopping but I still feel, perhaps there was a reason that I meant her in that store. I sometimes feel that I should have taken more time to dialog with her but I choose not to. Do you know what she was attempting to point out concerning Jesus? Is there a particular argument within Wiccan Circles which refute Christianity? Why do you think is it so popular with young girls?
I hope that I am not offending you in any way or placing you on the spot asking these questions but I figured that you are here hanging out with a bunch of Catholics for something so maybe you want to be understood?
May God bring us greater insight and understanding. Amen.
Peace, Love and Blessings,
