She’s 12 and having episodes of unsteadiness. She keeps rubbing her nose across the carpet. I’ve spoken to her of our love for her, and want her to be comfortable. I’ve also verbalized a prayer that we don’t know what to do other than watch her right now. I don’t know what Our Lord’s agenda is for her, but I ask that He act quickly.

I phoned the 24/7 vet. They had only one vet and five animals in line.

She barfed her supper on the couch pooch pad. We can tell she’s having an episode when she starts turning her head side to side. She’s been up two or three times, and I just took her out. She still lunged and barked at the bunnies in the backyard.

We’re on a hill, and she’s had trouble negotiating the diagonal going across the driveway. She had another episode while we were out there.

If she’s having pin strokes, there’s not a lot a vet can do, other than counsel regarding options.

She’s our fourth dog. The first had a stroke; the second, hemolytic anemia; and the third just up and died. She seems to be following closely to the first situation.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal ( My back). You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Cloister’s Dog body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Prayer for Sick Pet

Holy St. Francis, please pray for this precious
dog. God Himself has made @Cloisters and
her family stewards of this companion. Please
pray that God will restore her to health and strength.
Pray also that this dog’s family will be comforted
and strengthened during this difficult time.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
 
Update – I dropped her off at the vet this morning. He thinks it’s Old Dog Vestibular Syndrome, and is prescribing meds (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and anti-nausea meds). He wants her confined for the week, to see if the meds work. If her blood work shows anything off, and this treatment doesn’t work, then we may have to put her to sleep.

Vet just called. The eyes aren’t twitching as badly, which is a good sign. Her blood work is good, so we may have a few more years with her. She’s eating well, and keeping it down. Thank you everyone for the prayers!

She’s back home. Need prayers that she will catch the clue train and stay still. Have more meds to give her beginning tomorrow.
