Hi all!

I am a student, and I am curious to know how doing one’s best for a test or an examination could be a means or an act to glorify God?

Thanks!

Hi Melvfe,

Use the exam to thank God for the wonderful mind he has given you. Give thanks to Him that you are able to reason through the questions (no matter the topic). Show that you are grateful for the knowledge by doing your best.

Also realize that some day, the fact that you have this knowledge may enable you to do God’s work in helping others. For example, will this biology test knowledge help you save lives as a doctor? Will that math test knowledge help you engineer a machine that helps people do their jobs easier? Will that English test knowledge help you write something to inspire others to get closer to God?

Hope that helps

Eric Liddell, a famous Olympic medalist runner, was from a missionary family and eventually became a missionary in China as his parents had been. But when he was young, he was a serious runner and won many competitions. In the movie “Chariots of Fire”, his sister Jenny is upset that he is running and thinks it is taking away from his true vocation to serve God in the missions. He tells her that God made him fast and he sees his running as a way to honor God.

If you substitute the use of any talent you have, such as your ability to study and do well on exams, for running…same thing.

Lots of athletes give the glory to God.
I understand Nick Foles, who just won Most Valuable Player in the Super Bowl, is seriously considering becoming a minister after he retires from football.

The Philadelphia Eagles team has many players who are very proud of their faith, including Nick Foles. I am an Eagles fan, and seeing that really helped me recently.

I’m not a native to Philadelphia although my employer’s main US office is located there so I do work there quite a bit.
Nevertheless I was so happy when their coach and quarterback praised God after their win.
I’m buying a jersey with the coach’s old number (he was briefly a player many years ago).
I think a lot of people were really heartened to see a team thanking God instead of some of the other idiotic stuff that the NFL players have been doing lately.

Yes, im an area native and ive never seen a team’s identity so centered around Christianity as I have with this Eagles team. Its really special and put some hope in my heart, as someone trying to find their way.
