Charity Navigator is a good place to start. It will give you an idea of how much of your donation actually goes to programs and how much goes to administrative and fundraising expenses, how much the CEO makes, etc.
With Samaritans Purse only 88.5% of your donation actually goes to program expenses, a whopping 11.5% goes to pay administrative and fundraising expenses. The President/CEO of Samaritans Purse, W. Franklin Graham, receives $443,192 in compensation annually. Their
statement of faith says, “We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.” Catholics cannot subscribe to this statement of faith as it rejects the infallibility of Sacred Tradition and the dogmatic decrees of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Therefore, a Catholic who supports Samaritans Purse is promoting heresy.
11.5% for administrative and fundraising expenses and President/CEO compensation of $443,192 is very high when compared to other charities that do similar work.
Catholic Relief Services, for instance, is a Catholic relief organization that also does international relief work and their administrative and fundraising expenses are only 7.2% but even 7.2% is high when compared to some charities. For instance, Food for the Poor, an interdenominational Christian relief organization with Catholic bishops among its directors, has administrative and fundraising expenses of only 4.3%. Food for the Poor does twice as much business as Samaritans Purse and pays its President/CEO less than W. Franklin Graham III receives from Samaritans Purse.
