Every parish in my diocese offers some type of card for a Mass offered.
If I am scheduling Masses for my own loved ones, I decline the card. If I am offering a Mass for a friend for some some, reason, a card is sent so that the family/person knows that a Mass has been offered for their intentions.

I was going to say the same thing, my parish gave me a card for my Mass intention, very nice gesture, I still keep it.

I would imagine that someone in the office does not understand or has done a poor job of explaining. It would violate Canon Law to charge for a Mass.

A priest may receive only the stipends permitted by the law.
