Hey I was watching EWTN yesterday when coming home from college. I was watching Path of the Messiah: Pt. 2 or something where that guy from the EWTN World Over news and some other guy and a priest (or was it a brother?) who saw the Calvary where Jesus was crucified, saw the actual part of the tomb He rose frmo etc. Wow!!! I tell ya, when watching that, that gave me more hope and increased my faith! 🙂 When you see something like that, it gives you this cool, reality feeling of it. If anyone knows what I’m talking about, it’s the greatest feeling to have as belivers! 😃 I was filled with joy!

However, later that evening, it felt like that joy suddenly dropped down and I was disappointed to the bone! It felt like that reality was gone! Then I realized, we shouldn’t base it on our own FEELINGS!!! DON’T DO THAT!!! We walk by faith, not by sight. And neither feelings! This is something I have to work on. I guess I would like to be filled with that joy that I experienced up there CONSTANTLY!!! And when I don’t, my faith “fails” perhaps and lose the reality and feels like I take it for granted. No, I don’t want to do that. :banghead:

Hmmm…maybe it’s a test or something :ehh:

:hmmm:

You’ll have to wait until you get to heaven.

C.S. Lewis talks about this in ‘Mere Christianity’. It’s a great illustration of why feelings and Faith should be seperated:

“That is why ‘Faith’ is such a necessary virtue: unless you teach your moods ‘where they get off’, you can never be either a sound Christian or even a sound atheist, but just a creature dithering to and fro, with its beliefs really dependent on the weather and the state of its digestion.” (thanks Amazon’s search inside the book feature!)

I also think that applies to love and marriage - feelings are not enough to sustain it.

Anyways, C.S. Lewis really knows how to say it

Also, Jesus, after His resurrection, told Thomas, “You believe because you have seen. Blessed are they who do not see but still believe.” Or something like that. Over the years, there have been many who have had visions. Usually of Mary. Does that make that person happier? Not necessarily. 😛 But, when we believe in God, Jesus and the rest of it, we are definately blessed. :amen:
