Door to door envagalizing

There is a poor Hispanic nieghborhood near me were Jehovah’s whiteness, lds, and evangelicals go door to door. I feel called to go door to door since these home owners are all baptized Catholics and invite them to the church. I am pretty well versed in catholic theology is there any thing wrong with going door to door to talk about the catholic church and defending its teachings. Also I would like to go to Protestant churches and ask them if they have any questions about the catholic church.

I was just going to suggest Legion of Mary because I know that some of their chapters do this very thing. You might want to check with your church to see if the Legion of Mary would have anything to help you. Don’t forget to grab some extra bulletins from your church. Give them to the people when you talk to them so that they will have the info on Mass times if they decide to go, especially if there is a Spanish Mass. 👍
 
hmm, I don’t know. I have always thought the whole door to door thing was a little pushy.
 
I say go for it :)… as for the JWs and LDS going door to door, maybe you should put a Virgin Mary statue in your yard. It’s like a scarecrow to them.👍 JK
 
Women from the Legion of Mary from another parish attended mass at our Church last Sunday before heading out to some of our county’s migrant worker camps. What a beautiful ministry. God bless you.
 
I think it sounds like a good idea, but I think you should take someone with you.

I’ve always wanted to throw holy water at them at the door and start saying Latin prayers 😛

That’s an urban legend. Any sign that Catholics live in a house and they come in droves. They get double points for Catholics.

Actually, we just all gather together in groups and morph into one big “SuperCatholic”:eek:
 
A statue of Mary would probably make them want to come to your house even more, lol. Converting a Catholic is pretty much the gold standard for them, up there with converting staunch atheists.

I say this, having been a JW for a few years in my teens- my parents and I got out before we would have been baptized in that religion.
 
I already drop in bible studies at baptist and fundemenlist churches Tuesday and Wednesday nights and sit in saying I have the catholic perspective on how they can be saved.

This Tuesday I am invited to a Calvary chapel bible study to talk about church history I already gave the group a copy of jimmy akin fathers knows best and I will be explaining how the early church still exists right in our town it’s called the catholic church

I have had a lot of red faces, or jaw droppIng, but mostly
Shock that I’m catholic and read the bible.

I have no new people attending my parish in 6 months of doing this but I have 2 churches soften their once saved always saved stance and say they need to repent their sins

To those who find it obnoxious, I can see your point. JW’s and Mormons can be obnoxious because in their eyes, their way in the only way to salvation and they are desperate to get you to join them. I am wanting to go just to talk with people and educate them on the faith that you and I share. Many people(myself included) are unaware about the Church. Before my conversion I thought the Catholic Church was just another Christian denomination. I had no idea what Protestant meant. No idea about the Eucharist or the wonderful sacrament of reconciliation.

We had a different approach for our evangelizing teams. Our RE made up a 20 question survey, questions about catholic faith, questions about catholic practices, questions about participants’ personal feelings about certain issues, etc.

Our teams would ask the people who answered doors, if they would take a survey to help the Catholic church. If they said no, our team thanked them, and left. Three times out of five, people would say yes. It took a total of 15 minutes with people, who were uninterested in any dialog. Sometimes, our team could engage people in a conversation about our Church.

People were far more receptive to participating in a survey. We did this for 2 months, only 2 bad experiences, people upset over the scandal.
