I’m sorry to hear this, I enjoyed some of her movies a lot when I was younger. I also remember reading her autobiography which was serialized in one of my mom’s magazines and being shocked at how many truly awful setbacks and disasters she had. In her later years she seemed to find some peace by doing a great deal of dog rescue, which I thought was nice as the dogs were better, kinder and more reliable companions than the men she unfortunately married.
And then on top of that her son predeceased her, which was just sad on top of sad.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

My first memory of her was starring in Calamity Jane .


My favourite song of hers was Que Sera Sera .

 
Was so sad to learn this. I love her films with Rock Hudson so much. For such a sweet, talented lady she often had a very tumultuous life. God bless her for the animal rescue work she did in her post-Hollywood years, too. I hope she rests in peace.
 
Loved calamity Jane superb musical not a bad song in it. She just seemed one of life’s good people you know ? Rest in peace

She had a wonderful life of 97 years and so many admirers. I am sure she left this world and is resting in the Peace and Comfort of Our Lord.
 
Turner Classic Movies will have an all-day marathon of Doris Day movies on Sunday, June 9th, in her memory.
 
I used to drive my mother nutz singing Doris Day’s Que Sera, Sera. I still love her song some 40 plus years ago.

The Doris Day Animal Foundation.announced that there would be no funeral services, gravesites, or other public memorials.

She didn’t want a fuss made after she died. If you want to remember her, donate to her foundation for the animals she loved so much. Or donate to your local animal shelter and perhaps adopt a furry family member.
