Why is Douay-Rheims Version different from other bible versions… In Hebrews 1:6, it says ADORE, but in different version it says, WORSHIP… ADORE is different from being WORSHIP… The Douay is the only version that says ADORE, it is a catholic bible right?

Interesting but not a big deal really. The dictionary definition of ‘adore’ primarily means ‘to worship or honor as a deity or as divine’

The Challoner Douai Rheims version is a translation from the Latin:
Et adorent eum omnes Angeli Dei.

The English translator naturally chooses ‘adore’ rather than ‘worship’ since it is closer to the Latin.

The Douay Rheims is a translation from the Latin Vulgate, which uses the word ‘adorent’ for ‘worship’ in this passage. Because the translators decided to stick with the Latin text closely (sometimes too closely, to the point of being obscure that critics of the translation said that this was done on purpose by the Church to keep the laity from understanding the Bible!), they Anglicized the word ‘adorent’ to ‘adore’. The DRV, at the time of its publication, introduced many new words taken from the Latin (such as ‘convert’, ‘centurion’, ‘neophyte’, ‘advent’, ‘evangelize’ or ‘calumniate’’). ‘Adore’ must be one of those introduced words.

‘Adore’ and ‘worship’ are, in one sense of the word, synonyms anyway so the sense is still the same, despite the choice of words.

It has to do with the change in the definition of the word worship.

Adoration in the Catholic sense is reserved for God alone. Worship (in the more traditional definition) is not reserved for God alone.
