I have been going to confession yet i find myself asking questions about everything being new and all i guess thats normal. Its not that I doubt Jesus and his power to take our sins from us. I had an experience were people were telling me that there is no proof that Jesus even existed and that the bible wasn’t written until 70-140 years after Jesus came so how could it be valid and such. these things are not what I believe but they make me hurt inside and i pondered them awhile. I sometimes question things like that like historical proof and such but I feel like overall I believe it and want to and I can’t find a reason not to yet I still have those things come into my mind every so often. Is this doubt?

If it is does it make all my previous confessions invalid? thus would I have to re confess everything? or could I just confess that I have been struggling with doubt if thats what it is and that will cover it all?

I mean I went to confession because something told me i needed to and i went with intent to set things right and i felt a sense of peace after it but now its later and my dead sins still bother me and I worry that I doubt.

Im sorry if this is confusing i will try to clarify any questions if any.

Don’t worry. Doubts such as you describe do not invalidate your confession. Such doubts are not even sins.

It sounds like you are listening to the wrong people or reading the wrong books. Go to www.catholic.com to find material that will strengthen your faith, not weaken it.

There’s a wise old saying my priest quoted to me when I was having similar difficulties: “A thousand questions don’t make a single doubt.”

It’s natural to have questions. When we work through the questions, our faith can even grow stronger. However, take JimG’s wise advice and avoid conversations and reading material that are likely to trouble you.
