Hey all, I’ve been really spiritually down lately, being a new convert and experienced a bit with a few religions its not surprising I’ve kind of hit the big downpoint where all the recent convert zeal wears off. For me, I am finding it incredibly difficult with just this overall feeling of “what if it’s all fake” or “what if it’s all made up” without any actual reasoning behind it. I havent been very successful in finding articles or books to combat this feeling, but I was hoping you all might have some advice and information for me to look at as I go through this rough spot?

Many thanks and God Bless

Faith, hope, and love are integrated. They are all theological virtues. They are gifts of God. Sometimes we are more receptive and active in these virtues than other times.

These virtues all mutually reinforce one another. If faith is lacking or if doubt tempts me, I try to practice love and hope. I may call someone who is sick or do something good for someone.
If I am not feeling charitable, I try to practice my faith and be hopeful. If I am despairing or discouraged, I try to have faith and practice love.
You get the idea.
The virtues don’t exist in isolation. And the intellectual part of faith, “belief” or understanding, is only part of faith. Faith is a deeper trust and understanding that goes beyond temporary lapses in intellectual abilities. I like to think of faith as “clinging to the hem of His garment”. A personal trust and adherence.

I find Romano Guardini’s writing to be completely honest and soul searching. He does not shy away from doubts and honest questions.
Try “Learning the Virtues that Lead you to God”. Or “The Lord”. He makes the faith very approachable in a way that acknowledges difficulties.

1 Cor 15 (St. Paul)
B. The Resurrection of the Dead – Results of Denial.
12 But if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then neither has Christ been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then empty [too] is our preaching; empty, too, your faith. 15 Then we are also false witnesses to God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised, 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are the most pitiable people of all.
