What a wonderful article!!!

"My friend once said to me that she was disturbed by other parents who would brag about their children’s intelligence or looks. “It suggests that the children are lovable because they’re smart or good-looking. Why, I’d love my children even if they were stupid and ugly!” " - So true!!!

This rings true for me as well. When I was a child, I was constantly told I was “brilliant” and “beautiful”, which always made me feel uncomfortable and insecure. I grew up with a horror that I might become stupid and ugly and, I assumed, worthless and unlovable. It was only after becoming Catholic that I realised that I had believed this, and understood that it wasn’t true. It is so wonderful to know that our worth, and God’s love for us, doesn’t depend on beauty, intellegence or other superficialities.

Beautiful…
I am reminded of a book I read many years ago, called “Angels Unawares”, by Dale Evans Rogers.
I don’t know how many of you all may know that Dale & Roy Rogers had only one child together (they adopted many). Her name was Robin, & she was a Down Syndrome child. Born in the early 50s, she had a serious heart defect & other complications from the Down’s. But they loved her, were proud of her.
In the medical climate at that time, there was not near as much that could be done to help her physical needs, & she died very, very, young. But both Rogers believed that she was a special gift from God. Her birth cemented their Christian faith.
Whenever I hear a story about this subject I remmember this, & how they were thought to be eccentric at the least, not to put her in a “home”, & leave her there.
She was such a beautiful baby…I can see her beautiful smile from one of the pictures to this day.
And now, people are so often not just discarding, but killing such little ones…:crying: :crying:
What a wonderful thing to hear of someone who knows how blessed they are.
