Hi, I download my music from iTunes paying 99 cents for each song. Would it still be a sin to download the exact same songs from another free file sharing website since I paid for it already?

The reason for this is because I don’t like using iTunes to listen to music so I’m trying to get the same songs so I can play it somewhere else. I’m getting these same second copies for free.

Copyright laws restrict people from using bought music for anything but personal use. That means giving it away for free, or selling it, too. So I would conclude it would be wrong to download it for free from someone else, seeing as your breaking the law for them. You are breaking copyright laws by being the person they illegally give music to.
However, I think you can burn it to a CD and rip the CD onto WindowsMedia Player and it will be in mp3 format, i am not sure though.
I see nothign wrong with that except the I-Tunes copyrighting, not sure though. Not an ITunes professional.

Godbless you.

If you really did purchase these songs legally you should be able to burn them to a CD and then rip them again to MP3 without DRM.

When you purchased something from iTunes, you also agreed to an end user license agreement which is a contract you agreed to of your own free will that restricts what you can do with your purchase. We are supposed to obey all laws – not just inconvenient ones.

Thanks for the responses. I was aware of the CD burning method but avoided it because of the hassle. I guess I’ll just continue listening from iTunes then.

Also, I’m aware that we’re supposed to obey all laws. 🙂 I just wasn’t sure of what the laws exactly were.

if ur from canada i thinks its legal to download not sure tho
but i just get my music i listen to from youtube 🙂
most of songs are on there 😃 would that be considerd stealing?

'Tis free to download for personal use in Canada. Just move here eh, its not THAT cold 😛

Eh? No Queen for me thank you… 😃 Darn red coats… must be something in the water up there…
Heh. 😃 We like it.
CHCatholic and he of the many p’s are both right. In Canada we’re allowed to download for personal use. We pay a surcharge on recording media such as blank discs, which goes to the MPAA (or is it the RIAA? One or the other, anyway) as compensation for unpaid downloads.

I’d love to have a queen. It’s just too cold up there in Canada and I get gothy in the winter in Florida, so I’d be a goth all the time and it’d be really scary. But at least then I could download Bauhaus songs off the internet and listen to them in my gothy moods, 😉

But yeah, virtually every band I like today I downloaded first. Except Anberlin. I got them off a compilation disc.
