I left the Church for Islam but a few days ago I had a dream. I wanted to build a city but instead of building buildings I planted rosaries like seeds. It was odd. I feel like it means something. I don’t want to become catholic again because my parents are mad about my Islam and they are christian. and have said I can’t pray. I feel like if I leave I am allowing them to win the fight, when they are wrong to interfere with prayer.

Well, why have you left the Church for Islam? Was there a specific problem you saw in Holy Mother Church? I pray the Lord will guide you back.

I felt like some of the central doctrines were off. Principally the Trinity and Divinity of Christ. That being said, I enjoyed praying a lot more as a Catholic. However, I know how you feel while praying doesn’t matter but how it glorifies God and whether the prayer is genuine and true.

Well I would affirm your stance that feelings do have no standing on the efficacy or goodness of your prayer. And for the Holy Trinity, well the Most Holy Trinity is all together incomprehensible to us for the fact that It is so far above us. If I were to try to prove that God is a Trinity outside the guidance of Holy Mother the Church I would be unable to, because on our own we couldn’t come to this conclusion. The best defense giveable to the Most Holy Trinity is that God said He was a Trinity, and has revealed this to His Church. However this would have no standing if you did not believe in the Divinity of Our Lord. So what problem do you have with the Divinity of the God Man?

Actually user fide gave a pretty significant explanation of the Trinity in my opinion. So God is love, but if He didn’t have something to love then He wasn’t complete. But we know God is complete, He has to be. Therefore God is more than one person while still being one. I’m citing this from memory but I believe it’s close to what he said.

I'm leaving Catholicism Philosophy
I am amazed (please forgive the use of a much-overused word these days - I mean it seriously and literally) by the way the Trinity resolves what I see as the main objection to other “gods” that are “one” in a more expected way. A god who is the only god, and is of one person only, cannot accomplish the two defining characteristics of the Christian God: that He is Truth, and He is Love. It seems that these two are necessary and essential to God. Otherwise love could not be necessary of creatur…

I read somewhere that God the Son (Jesus) is God the Father’s understanding of Himself, so because God understands Himself perfectly, Jesus is the “image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15) And the Holy Spirit is the perfect love between the Father and Son, but He is also a “Person” of the Trinity, not just a feeling. So that’s why with the Holy Spirit, God allows us to love Him with the same love with which He loves Himself. Hope this makes sense 😆

Lam Yalid walam Yulad (He is never born nor does He give birth Surah al-Ikhlas) when I was praying about Islam I was exposed to some miraculous verses of the Qur’an by feeling of the heart to read a certain ayah. This made me feel like the Qur’an is inspired. However, as I read a biography of beloved RasulAllah (PBUH) I saw that after the Hjira he seemed to change a lot. He seemed more power hungry and haughty, may God have mercy on me if I am wrong. However, I began praying in a searching manner once more and felt inspired to read Matthew 12:28. We believe Jesus was inspired by God, so what does then the Kingdom of God is upon you mean? I also feel like I need to read the Gospel of John. My favourite gospel. I have already gotten to chapter 7 in 2 days. Btw, thanks for being chill about this. When I was inquiring I was told mean things by catholics and other christians. I guess I am still young and haven’t settled down as I’d like to think

Your parents are wrong in telling you you can’t pray. Anyone and everyone can pray. Muslims pray. Moreover, nobody has any right dictating to another whether or not he or she can pray. Prayer is private, between you and God. Perhaps they meant you can’t publicly pray, but that’s also not true.

Your relationship with your parents should not influence your relationship with God, pride is from the devil, which says, “No, I must always be right.” Satan may be trying to use this to keep you from the Church and from Truth. Work out your own salvation without comparing yourself to others.

Galatians 6:4 “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else,“

Philippians 2:12 “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed–not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence–continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,”

Matthew 12:28 “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.”

Remember the words of John the Baptist and Jesus: “Repent, for the kingdom of God has come near.” (Matthew 3:1-2, 4:17)

The Kingdom is now, in our hearts, because we have access to the Holy Spirit and Christ reigns in our hearts even now. Jesus made the kingdom available to all. The Kingdom starts in us when we accept the word of God. And Jesus is the Word made flesh.

Let’s look at Matthew 13:19 “When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.”

So aside from the message here, we can see that the word (message of the kingdom) preached by Jesus (about His messiahship and salvation) was sown in the hearts of the people, and they must understand it and accept it for it to take root in their hearts. And then the Kingdom of God will reign in their hearts.

I don’t know how to interpret dreams, but perhaps let the ground (that the rosaries were being sown in) be your heart. And then the Word and Truth will take root in you and spring forth blossoming into salvation. And the Kingdom of God will reign in your heart. And remember, a kingdom usually has a king and a queen, Jesus and Mary 🙏

The “city” you wanted to build may have represented the Kingdom of God. But instead of buildings, it starts in the heart, and by planting the Word in your heart. So to build the kingdom, the rosary (and word of God) planted in your heart is the first step.

You will not find peace in Islam. Mohammed was wealthy, a warrior and had many wives. He also greatly benefited from the Quran, using it to gather troops around his leadership. Jesus was poor, celibate and died on the cross. He never benefited from the gospels as they were written decades after his death and resurrection. Seek the truth not false prophets.

left the Church for Islam
Why?!

Yes, you do.
parents are mad about my Islam and they are christian.
I would be too. Read what John of Damascus says about Islam.
feel like if I leave I am allowing them to win the fight, when they are wrong to interfere with prayer.
It’s not a fight. You are the one MAKING it a fight.

I mean, they Kicked me out for refusing to stop praying and then called the cops on me for running away despite the fact that they saw me leave and encouraged me to do so. Do you not think all people should be allowed to pray?

How old are you, @Maryismymama ? Are you still a minor ?

From your posts, I get the impression that your parents care very much about you, and are a bit lost, not knowing how to react, alternating between upset and afraid. I also get the impression that you are still very young.

I certainly think all people should be allowed to pray as they see fit. However, if you live under your parents’ roof and they have an issue with the particular way you pray, I don’t think it’s very wise not to respect that and be “in your face” about it. If I were in your shoes, I think I’d try to be as discreet and loving as I can. If I’m not mistaken, Islam, as well as Christianity, teaches that one should honour and respect one’s parents.

As others have said, this is not a war. Ultimately, what’s at play here is your own soul before God. If you think Christ is calling you back, then what you do of His call is all that ultimately matters, even if it also happens to please your parents.

Feelings come and go. Truth is eternal. Don’t let feelings guide your faith.

I guess I am mostly being prideful, but they are still being intolerant and wrong, as am I. It is funny I guess that this is a fight where the appropriate response would perhaps be in the middle but each side is taking radical sides. BTW when I ran away I went far to another town and was looking for the mosque but couldn’t find it. I did pass the convent so I knew I was going an okay way. When I saw the statue of the BVM in front of it, I wanted to weep at her feet and recite a poem I once wrote about her and couldn’t forget, but I didn’t because I was being kicked out for refusing to renounce Islam and besides it said “NO TRESPASSING”

How old are you? If you are of or older than the legal age of consent, cops can’t do anything about your running away. You have the legal right to leave of your own accord. If you are a minor, that’s different. But it sounds hypocritical if they encouraged you to leave then reported you for doing so.

You can still pray secretly – nobody but God will know.

Muslims do pray. They regard prayer as so important that they do it five times a day.

I’m not going to weigh in on Islam, but you should be free to worship as you please. It’s a fundamental right we all have.

Yeah, I assumed I count as unable to pray standing if I collapse from anxiety when I try, so I started praying on my side
