John Corapi vs. Jimmy Swaggart
Mother Theresa vs. heath and wealth preachers
John Paul II vs. Archbishop Lefebvre
G.K. Chesterton vs. Hume

The beauty of Stephen Hawking shines with gentleness enhanced by a willingness to soulfully link with others, and this is truly what makes the man despite your disability to see otherwise Hastrman.
Yeah, that’s why he left his wife, who gave up everything to care for him, so he could ā€œsoulfully linkā€ with a younger woman. ā€œSoulfully linkingā€ with a woman not your wife is called adultery, here in the real world.

Or did you not bother to wonder what I was talking about?

Hilarious euphemism, there, by the way. Gotta add it to my list. Almost as good as ā€œlow-impact aerobicsā€.

Anyway, I think I’d also like to see a debate between Larry Elder and Hilaire Belloc. Topic: economics.

Why dream about impossible matches between two individuals?

I would like to see a internationally televised debate (over a number of nights) between 20 or 30 Catholic scholars and an equal number of Protestant scholars covering all of the topics we’ve been rehashing for years such as; Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, the papacy, Crusades, Inquisition, Reformation, purgatory, et al.

Chesterton vs. anyone nice.
Anyone mean, they have to take on Hilaire ā€œI am now going to sneerā€ Belloc. Seriously, that man did not take prisoners.
Oh, and Steven Hawking vs. Mortimer J. Adler, who took the Faith shortly before his death. Adler, as you may know, corrected the major philosophical problem with quantum physics in a footnote.
Mr. Hawking, philosophically illiterate philandering adulterous jerk that he is, would be out of his depth, and how.
Stephen William HAWKING is one of the ACADEMICIANS for the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences!

I have to agree with Alec when he wrote in response to Hastrman:
a) this is a rude, infantile, uncharitable and possibly libellous characterisation of Hawking

b) Adler, as you might know, regardless of his other undoubted virtues, was scientifically naive, had nothing of originality, value or interest to say about scientific matters and certainly did not resolve any problems of quantum physics, philosophical or otherwise.

c) the man’s name is spelt Stephen not Steven - but why should I expect one who is ignorant in big things to be any less ignorant in small things.

The best Catholic theologians of all time

vs.

The best Orthodox theologians of all time

Lock them all up in a monastery and make them debate for forty days and forty nights.

Topic: The Filioque

Oh, what fun.

  1. David Hume vs. William Lane Craig. Now that would be something!
  2. St. Paul vs Muhammed.

I know a current debate that I’d like to see: Jimmy Akin v. Richard Dawkins. Topic: Does God exist?
