I had a dream of St. Therese of Lisieux last night. I just saw her face, and it looked like one of her photographs that pops up when you google her name…That’s pretty much it, but there is a long background/history to this…

Late April this past year, I was going through a hard time with regards to a situation with a male friend whom I had previously dated but remained friends with after that dating period ended. The last weekend that April I sat in Mass and my eyes kept being drawn to her stained glass window. I had asked for her help and intercession in the past but had not asked her to pray for me in a long time about this situation. But that Sunday, it was almost like she told me that she would handle the situation between me and this guy friend, and that it was easy for her…I just kept hearing, “I’ll take care of it, trust me, trust me.” My friend had grown distant from me in the last few weeks, and I was really having a hard time with it and it confused me…so this experience at Mass provided me with peace.

She remained on my mind during the following week and I asked a close friend named Theresa how much she knew about St. Therese, and she said, “That’s funny you ask that, I was just reading about her and she was beatified on April 29th…” I was shocked and checked my calendar and realized that April 29th was the day I was sitting in the church and my eyes just kept being drawn towards her. That same week, I was at an adoration chapel and I happened to stumble across a picture of her that someone that dropped on the floor, with something written in Polish on the back, and what looks like a piece of fabric enclosed in it. Translated online, it says, "relic of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.’ I was astonished at these coincidences, and I really believe it was her relic. I keep it with me in my wallet wherever I go now.

Well, in June this past year, so about a month and a half later, my friend came back to me and apologized for the way he had been acting, saying he was sorry to have grown distant. We became close friends again. However, in the last month, this situation has gotten confusing again. When we first dated a year ago, he didn’t want to make it official because of the age gap (I am 6 years older and out of college, while he is still in college)…so we decided to remain friends. However, sometimes in the last few months, my friend and I would wind up stepping past the line of friends and getting physical (kissing), only to make things confusing since he is not ready to commit. We don’t seem to know what to do about this whole situation. This overstepping the line has happened again in the last week, and I’m not sure if the dream of St. Therese has something to do with my relationship with him, or what…I do think she’s trying to communicate something to me… but with regards to what, I’m not 100% sure. I’m a bit confused.

Thoughts and prayers appreciated! 🙂

I think you should find a spiritual advisor to report this to. While it looks like you are new, CAF does have rules against posting private revelations and experiences as well as unauthorized Marian apparitions. You may wish you could share this but you should reread the rules so you don’t get banned.

About this guy, you should not be getting “physical” with him. If he is not “ready to commit” then stop kissing him and just be friends. He sounds like he is using you. Stop getting confused and manipulated by him. he is using you.

Keep chastity above all else because that is most pleasing to the Lord.

You may want to review this section of the Catechism:
The chaste person maintains the integrity of the powers of life and love placed in him. …] Chastity includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery which is a training in human freedom. The alternative is clear: either man governs his passions and finds peace, or he lets himself be dominated by them and becomes unhappy. "Man’s dignity therefore requires him to act out of conscious and free choice, as moved and drawn in a personal way from within, and not by blind impulses in himself or by mere external constraint.
There are three forms of the virtue of chastity: the first is that of spouses, the second that of widows, and the third that of virgins. …] Those who are engaged to marry are called to live chastity in continence. They should see in this time of testing a discovery of mutual respect, an apprenticeship in fidelity, and the hope of receiving one another from God. They should reserve for marriage the expressions of affection that belong to married love. They will help each other grow in chastity.
I also advice that you ask your confessor for some spiritual direction on this matter. You must be doing a careful discernment, above all being extremely prudent of him “not being ready to commit”. As faithful Christians in the Church, we know better, and we expect more than what the world promises. Be careful, remembering always that your body is not your own, but a temple of the Holy Spirit.

St. Therese of Lisieux, your entire life can be summarized in the very words you whispered before being admitted into the heavenly abode by your divine Spouse: “my God, I love you!”. Today our sister is sharing with us her kind hopes and worries. We humbly dare to ask for your most kind intercession with our beloved Lord, your Spouse, that through humble obedience she may fulfill God’s will, that her joy may be full.

Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genetrix: nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus nostris sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper, Virgo gloriosa et benedicta!

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.
Sanctus Deus, Sanctus fortis, Sanctus immortalis, miserere nobis.

Deo gratias.

It seems to me that St. Therese is trying to remind you of something. It might be that you already know what to do, and what the right choice is. She might be telling you that she will be interceding for you if you will trust yourself to make the right decision.
