Potentially dumb question ahead:
If you sin in a dream (say, for example, that I trip or something in a dream and swear–in the unlikely event I won’t jerk awake first), is it the same as sinning in reality?
The reason I ask this dumb question is that we all are, theoretically, the same person in Dreamland as we are in reality, so…would our sins still count in reality? I think I already know the answer, but I just wanted to rake in some (name removed by moderator)ut.

You do not have control of your actions in your dream so you are not sinning.

I totaly agree. What about this though: would it be a sin if it was a lucid dream?

Genesis, what is a lucid dream, exactly?

the Hatter, you are not guilty if your dream while sleeping includes you doing something wrong.

However, if you are awake and daydreaming or fantasizing, then you definitely can be responsible for that content, and if you are having a good old time thinking about leaving your wife or whatnot, then it is a big sin, for example!

It’s when you’re dreaming and you realize it’s a dream and then you can kind of take control of what’s going on within the dream.

The gravity of sin can be affected by things like drowsiness and your general state of mind, so I would opt to say that it would be quite difficut to sin mortally while dreaming in any state. (except daydreaming of course)

If you had no control, you have no sin. If you had some control over it, you may have a sin. Choosing not to sleep instead doesn’t count as control. 😉

If the reality is that you are dreaming that you have control of the dream, but you really don’t, you are no more responsible for this than any other dream. In other words, real control may be an illusion here. But is it an illusion?:hmmm:
