There’s this passage in the Bible that bugs me cause i don’t understand it. It says something about if this is what happens on greenwood, what will happen when its dry? I don’t know the exact passage. Someone help me out?

Luke 23:31
For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”

I assume that this is the passage.

The context is the crucifixion. What Jesus is saying is that if they do such evil when God in the flesh is alive (green wood) and with them, what will they do after Jesus is dead (dry wood)? What evil will they do when God has left them? One need look no further than the Christian persecutions of the first three centuries after Christ to see the evils. St. Bartholomew was flayed alive, St. Peter crucified upside-down, others boiled alive, others burnt, drowned, beheaded, and so on and so forth.

If anyone can explain it better, please do.

God Bless,
RyanL
