With the movie coming out tonight, I thought I’d ask and see who liked the show, Dukes of Hazzard.

I did. I’ll admit, it wasn’t the best show in the world, but I thought that it was decent. I loved that car. Boss Hogg always got his plans foiled. Bo and Luke were nice guys, in addition to being cute.

What do ya’ll think?

Haven’t seen the movie but it was filmed about 15 mi. from here.

When I was a little kid growing up in northern IL, we used to be allowed to stay up until 9:00 to watch “Dukes of Hazzard” with Dad.

It was so cool.

Then the next day we would take my brother’s little car collection outside and create our own little “Hazzard” in teh dirt and grass and gravel. My brother actually had a General Lee car and I would run “Larry’s towing” and go pick up the General Lee when it crashed going over jumps. Or maybe I’d pick up the white police car we designated as Boss Hogg’s.

They’ve started running “Dukes” old reruns, I see, so I’m really excited to get a bit of my childhood there.

They were cute…and I wanted to be Daisey. I would run aroudn in jean shorts and cowboy boots and ask my mom if I could grow my hair out so I could look like her. 😃

I’ve heard the movie, as usual, ruins it, but I dont’ know how accurate those reports are. I’m tempted to go see it but I’m actually afraid they DID wreck those old classics.

LOVED THE SHOW!!!

LOVED THE MOVIE SO MUCH!!! 😃 😃 😃 (though, it uses God’s name in vain A LOT!! 😦 )

I’ll have a review of the movie later.

Concerning the original question: You know, like it was pointed out on one of the DoH websites, about the show, it was a friendly feud, there was little swearing, there was kind of a moral to be learned, and, hey, the General Lee – what’s not to love!!!

The orignal Daisy Duke was on WLS talk radio yesterday saying that “The Dukes of Hazzard” is the number one show on the Country Music Station AND that it was such a hit back in the day in that it was a precursor for MTV, what with the editing & fast-paced cutting and special effects. One didn’t have to think too much with the show.

I have no intention of watching the movie, but when I was a kid, you could count me present every Friday night to watch the Dukes. That is, until 1982 when Wopat and Schneider left and were replaced by Coy and Vance. By then, I was hooked on a show called…Knight Rider. 😃

Trust me, the movie is JUST like an hour show. It’s familiar, but, different. I was thinking IF this movie gets to be No 1 at the box office, it’ll be because the same people who got Bush into office support this movie. 😃 It’s a GREAT movie. Don’t listen to what the critics say.

I was in elementary school when Dukes was running once per week. I HATED it, but my little brother liked it and so did my cousin who was my age… so we had to watch it. I was somewhere between 5-7 and thought the Bo and Luke were irresponsible and that DAisy was overly sexual. I was pretty much a 30 yr old trapped in a 5 yr old’s body.

I also didnt’ like the confederate flag because the little I understood about the civil war, as an Ohio yankee I couldn’t understand why anyone would want to use the flag of the “bad guys who wanted slavery”

Boss Hog also really just bugged me… and I didn’t understand who the guy in the jail cell playing the guitar and telling the story was.

I was a critical kid already set in my ways! .

I haven’t watched Dukes reruns as an adult, but my husband did and was dismayed when he realized that Daisy wasn’t as hot as he remembered as a little boy… she looks like an aged bar fly…

I loved it! I had the biggest crush on Bo!

I plan to see the movie, mainly because it was made in Louisiana. It will be fun to point out stuff I recognize. It’s not something that I plan on paying to see on the big screen though. I’m sure it’s good, but I’ll wait till it’s available to rent.

I watched the Dukes as a kid, and it seemed like every episode was exactly the same: The police car would chase the General Lee, and Bo and Luke would drive down some old dirt road, eventually run into some construction zone where there was a large pile of dirt in the middle of the road, the General Lee would drive over this large pile of dirt and then we would see a still shot of the General Lee in mid-air. Then there would be a commercial break, and when the show came back on it would show the car making a successful landing. Then there would be another 1/2 hour of the police chasing after the Dukes. Was there even a storyline in these episodes??

UGH!!! That’s not the point! It was a very cartoonish show in that the problems weren’t real and they were all resolved, yet never fully resolved. It’s like, an unanimated “Scooby Doo Mysteries”. The story line is as follows: The Dukes would find out about something bad concerning Boss Hogg, they would do cool stuff with the Genral Lee, thwart Boss Hogg & Col. Coltrane, Daisy would be involved, and things would get solved. OH!!! That & The Balladeer. 😃 Great show. Great show.:clapping:

I never really understood the appeal, but my older brother and my husband think it was an awesome show. My husband is a little uncertain whether he wants to watch the new movie though because it’s “not the same”- I guess we’ll see. 🙂

I read an interview from an original cast member that basically said that Hollywood took a good family show and smutted it up. Just accidentally run across Jessica Simpson’s Boots video to confirm that. He said he would not watch it. Also, just read that for the big opening weekend, over 2/3 of the movie goers were under 25. Don’t know how they arrived at that statistic, but FYI.

Peace,
Sherilo

And don’t forget the dope smoking! I may see this movie, but I won’t let my son watch it.
