forgive me for putting so many posts on lately - its just Im reading as much as I can about the RC faith and have so many questions…

this terrifies me! If one dies in mortal sin and hasnt confessed, they go straight to Hell (eternity without God…)? And yet, when I read the list of mortal sins, I think they included “extreme envy” (or some such), and one web site said “lust”? If these two things are part of mortal sin, hands up, I struggle with them all the time, lol! I might end up confessing, and on my way back out of the Church find myself in mortal sin again!

Am I misunderstanding this?
yes they are mortal sins… but it depends if you consent or not. For example, if you’re tempted to envy, you have a choice to consent or not consent. If you say no to it, then you were tempted but came out of it victorious. If you say yes to it, even for a little bit, then you’ve sinned. We need to say no to the sin right when we’re aware of it.

People go to hell who die as non-Catholics, and/or die with actual (original) or motal sin on their soul. Lust and envy are diffently mortal sins. You can be in a state of grace if you have perfect contrition with a desire to go to confession to a validly ordained and non heretical priest, which there are none today. Therefore you have to confess straight to God and have a promise to go to confession when a non heretical priests comes along. You also have to be validly Baptized with water to be saved and recieve the sacrement of Penance.

Thomas you would wake a Priest up to confess a Mortal sin, I do believe one can give an

Act of Contrition, what do you mean by Perfect Act of Contrition?
A perfect Act of Contrition is when one is given the grace to be repentant, and is sorrowful and contrite because of his love of God, not just the fear of hell.

Well then that doesn’t seem hard to do.🙂
