Hopefully this is the right place for this. I have an associate who attended a “Dynamic Catholic”
seminar. Though this person is non Catholic, they are a mentor to me in other areas of my life, and they do have familiarity of Catholicism.
My concern is whether “Dynamic Catholic” is a legit program & is fully connected with the Church Teachings. I mainly want to know about the program itself. I know there are mixed opinions of their main speaker, and I understand that. I just need to know if this program is worth looking into further?

Matthew Kelly’s program. Yes it is legitimately Catholic.

This is good stuff, especially for young people. It tends to get people off their duffs.
It’s not theology, it’s about inspiring people to live for Christ, to be the best version of themselves everyday.
He has written several books. I always find them useful.
The last one I read had a chapter on the importance of fasting as a discipline. It was a very good formulation.

We are currently watching his video on the 7 Pillars of Catholicism in my RCIA class. He’s funny and has a great message. I’ve read his book Rediscovering Catholicism and it was good. Not deep theology, but about disciplines and practices we should be doing to help us live out our faith. Definitely recommend him!

I’ve read that as well. No, not deep theology, but very realistic, I’m-talking-with-you sort of writing. I’m working on his book Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic as we speak.

Our Pastor handed out 2 from that series. (Big table full of the books, told us to take one-he has done that twice so far).

Good reading, solid, not too “deep”.

In addition to the answers above, I will just add that Dynamic Catholic’s California office is actually located on the same grounds as the Diocese of Orange’s Christ Cathedral. If they were a sketchy group, the Diocese of Orange wouldn’t lease them office space. 😉

Lucky you, Deacon Jeff!

I attended something in Pittsburgh last year when Matt Kelly was there. It was really moving, funny, and inspiring.

(Hey, were you there too? 😉)

I find a depth to his writing, but it is not explicit. It is underneath the practical presentation. It’s as if he thinks “I want to present this deep truth. How can I present it in a practical way in everyday language?”
The meat is definitely there.
