East-West views of "Free Will"

I’m confused about what the Catholic East & West churches teach on “free will”.
I’m a simple person so explanations need to be basic as possible. I understand that “the fall” plays into this as well. I was thinking that Catholic East – West were reconciled in their thinking but I have scene places where there seems to be some divide.

To start us off why don’t you give us your understanding of it and where you see the divide.

God makes the first move towards us. God has given us free will which we can use to cooperate with the Divine plan. When we do cooperate this is a free expression of love for God.
