During the Easter I always try to watch Jesus of Nazareth and the Passion of the Christ. (Although PofC doesn’t have much about after Jesus’ death, just a small shot of him right after the resurrection) And most recently I added the Gospel of John in the mix. Does anyone else have anything they watch every Easter season?

Ben Hur used to be around more and The Ten Commandments.
 
Actually, that shot of the collapsing shroud and JC’s moving body at the end of POTC is my fave Resurrection sequence :)🙂

I make time for anything Biblical shown on the History or NG channels in Holy Week, or 60 Minutes on Easter Sunday; and am looking forward to the new “AD” series.

I always watch the Ten Commandments, The Greatest Story Ever Told & POTC.
 
I usually watch something. For years, it was The Ten Commandments, but more recently, it’s been The Gospel of John (my favorite Jesus movie). Last night, I watched Son of God for the first time and really liked that.
 
While watching The Passion has become a Good Friday tradition for me, it’s not going to happen this year, because my mom will be in town visiting and she’s more sensitive to movie violence than I am. I know she saw it once, but that was to be able to help clients who had seen it, when she was working as a social worker.

I have the considerably less graphic Jesus movie, King of Kings, on Blu-ray and we may watch that on Friday.
 
Me and my husband decided to stay home and watch the Passion of the Christ today. I am still shaken up after watching it. I saw it twice before and every time I watch it, it is very painful. I just bawl every time I see the scene with Mary by the fallen Jesus as she remembers tending to his needs when he fell as a toddler. Heart wrenching.
And being nailed to the cross was another tear jerker. The Resurrection final scene is a joyful hope for all of us.

I watched Son of God last week on Netflix and I really enjoyed that one too.

I watched the Passion of the Christ and cried like a baby and Jesus of Naz. and cried like a baby. The part where the Blessed Mother is sobbing, wailing and holding him (like the Pieta) after they take him down from the cross gets me every time. So basically I spend Good Friday crying, which somehow seems appropriate.

Prince of Egypt – I have an 11 year old and he likes this version of the Passover.

I try not to watch the Passion of the Christ because I don’t want to become desensitized to the horror of it. So maybe once every few years. I saw it last year. Maybe i’ll watch it again in 2017 🤷 But that’s just me.

I’m right there with you. I weep throughout and am very affected by it.
 
I was planning on watching The Gospel According to St. Matthew as a new tradition but I’m not sure I’ll be able to tonight. Hopefully tomorrow. 🙂
 
My mom, her s/o Louis and I watched the 1948 Fred Astaire/Judy Garland musical Easter Parade today. Granted it’s a secular film with no reference to the Resurrection, but still a fun, colorful movie.
