Tonight, for the first time in my life I attended Easter Vigil services and I have to say I have never been so moved in my life. When, about half way through the mass the lights were suddenly turned on and the whole congregation BURST into singing Glory to God, I was so moved I had to wipe away tears. Even thinking about it now causes me to tear up. And I also witnessed, for the first time, an adult baptism - a young man in his early / mid twenties, who was also confirmed with 3 others. At the point when our priests did the laying on of hands the young man was so moved he began to weep. As did quite a few parishioners in the pews.
This was an experience I truly feel the Holy Spirit was present for and I am so grateful for the gift of this experience. Having only been back to the church for about 6 - 7 years, I’m still relearning quite a lot of it all. Experiences like this only make me want it that much more. And experiences like this make me put so much more feeling into my hallelujah when our priest says at the end of mass, “He is risen, hallelujuah hallelujah!”
Thanks be to God!
