I’m going on a two-month vacation to the UK and I’m planning to attend an Eastern Catholic divine liturgy, since it is rare to find one where I come from and I’m a Latin Rite Catholic so I’m curious. I’m particularly attending this church of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Rite:

Can anyone give me a how-to guide as to what should I do when I participate in the divine liturgy, like particular nuances to watch out for and the like?

Thanks 🙂

Be prepared to stand a lot (although you can sit if you are tired).
Yea, just lots of standing 😃

And assuming you are coming to receive communion, you can cross your arms and receive from the spoon (and can kiss the bottom of the chalice).
At the end you can receive antidoron, blessed bread (and then venerate the cross).

And icons, kissing them is appropriate when you enter the sanctuary.
And lots of signs of the cross when mentioning the Trinity, etc (just follow the other people).

When someone is new to a Rite our Priest tells them to watch and take in the WONDER of the new experience. Join in if you find you can do so without missing the beautiful expression of faith.
