Hello all, I am a Latin Catholic who has a growing interest in the east. I have two questions. In the Latin Church we are told to pray the rosary daily, commune and confess frequently to help us overcome sin. What are the common devotions and practices in the east to help one overcome sin and live a holy life? I realize there are like 22 churches and this answer could vary, but I do also realize that many of them stem from similar traditions. I am trying to broaden my ways to fight sin and become holy. My seconded question is I am not confirmed yet in my church, but I am in the process of getting it done right now. Would a person in my situation be able to communion in an eastern church? I ask this because I understand it is the norm for infants to receive all three sacraments of initiation at once, so out of respect for your very accident tradition, I want to make sure it would be proper for me to do so in your church I can manage to visit one.

Actually, the Latin Church recommends prayer and penance to overcome sin. Prayer is communion with, dependancy upon, and a return of love to God. Penance is conversion and sacrifice (fasting, abstinence, almsgiving, etc.). How you pray and do penance is your choice: the Rosary, daily Mass, mortification, feeding the hungry, consecration to Jesus, etc.
