What is the Eastern Orthodox View of the Church before the East-West Schism?
Was the Church, One, Holy Catholic, and Apostolic Church?

It still is.Was the Church, One, Holy Catholic, and Apostolic Church?
The Church before the Great Schism was much like the current Orthodox Church of today. She had a traditional liturgy that grew organically through the centuries, had a well-developed iconographic tradition, understood theology in a patristic and mystical way rather than in a scholastic format, possessed strict fasting guidelines, had a married priesthood, defined dogmas only in Ecumenical Councils, saw the role of the Pope as a servant of unity among equals and was conservative in both her Faith and in how she expressed her Faith. Many examples of change in the expression of Faith characterize the West after the Great Schism, whereas a zealous preservation of the pre-Schism Church practices characterizes the Orthodox Church. We hope that Roman Catholics, who share with us so many true beliefs, may return to many of her ancient practices. What is the Eastern Orthodox View of the Church before the East-West Schism?
