Hello all! I have recently had some developing thoughts about the eastern orthodox churches that I wanted some opinions and facts on. I am not interested in converting to the EO church, but I wonder how people do become interested. I have several questions.
-The churches of the EO seem too nationality focused. This is not said in disrespect, but how does one choose out of those churches.
  • Also why did so many in the east get a unique liturgy in there own language in regions that are not so close to the Middle East?
-Why did these regions there own liturgy when in the west the regions all got the Latin liturgy.
-Where all the EO churches found by apostles, or where some founded later on by the bishops who were apostles to the original 12?
I realize that some of these questions answers probably overlap and seem silly. I hope people don’t mind answering them.

Eastern Orthodox is authentic expression of certain style and spirituality in Christianity.

Otherwise, just research with Google and read about Orthodox Christianity from many different websites and sources.

Hi there, I will try to give some sort of an answer here.

before the schism of east and west all were one Church. there have alway been many different liturgies in uses throughout the church in both east and west as the Bishop, Patriarch of that area/ region declared. it was not till after the break between East and west that the West standardized the liturgy of use by the whole church in the west ( there have alway been exception made) .
Even today there are religious communities that have their own liturgy as well as OF and EF for use by all Catholic.

As to the third Question I there is a direct link to the Apostles and the church either Catholic or Orthodox how and to what Apostle I do not know but it should not be to difficult to find out.

-Why did these regions there own liturgy when in the west the regions all got the Latin liturgy.

Echoing what O.G.O.C. said, there are technically several Western rites; but the Roman Rite (more commonly called the Latin Rite) is by far the most commonly used of them all. For example, if you want to attend an Ambrosian Rite mass, you’ll have to go to Milan (as far as I know).

- Also why did so many in the east get a unique liturgy in there own language in regions that are not so close to the Middle East?

**Do not confuse the Eastern Orthodox Churches with the Non-Chalcedonian Churches.

Almost all Eastern Orthodox Churches (with a few historic exceptions, such as the Western Rite Orthodox) use the Divine Liturgies of St. John Chrysostom and St. Basil.**
