Can anyone explain to me why Eastern priests tend to talk with a crucifix in their hand?

From my understanding, it has to do with being in the office as another Christ. I know the final blessing after Divine Liturgy is done with the hand crucifix, since it isn’t the priest that gives the blessing, but rather Christ, through the priest.

If you mean the sermon or any address to the congregation, it’s basically just custom.

Some priests hold the Gospel book.

A bishop would hold his crozier.
