Well, steve, you have to understand a few things. You and I, as Latins, are guests in the EC forum and therefore should tread lightly.
Maybe that’s what I’ve been feeling. As guest not as equal.
E:
The topic of this thread is a simple question from the OP about whether Eastern Catechisms exist.
I entered the conversation here #15

By then 3 catechisms had been mentioned. I was interested in the term “theosis” because it’s a term that always seems to come up from Easterners.

So I looked through these catechisms mentioned
I ask alot of questions. I was kinda surprised I wasn’t directed to the 2nd catechism for a catechism definition of theosis. It’s actually a fine explanation imv and this is about Eastern Catechisms.

Help a guest out, …right?🙂
E:
However, when some Latins become involved here in the EC forum, the topic of EVERY thread is “East vs. West, who’s better and why Latins rule!”
I tried to approach this as a Catholic. But things got polarized quickly.

My desire was to ask some questions to see where it went. Primarily, peel back the words that look like distinctions or difference to see where/if their really are major differences.
E:
Even if you are not combative or transparently arrogant about a Western position, you have dominated the thread for 6 pages in this back-and-forth about basic Eastern teachings.
It’s actually my attempts at seeing likeness rather that oppositions, between East and West “perspectives” on the issues at hand, and oddly enough THAT seems to have caused rancor. I’m accused of “A ‘cotton candy and popcorn’ reading” of the explanations. Then this same person insists “there are many differences in EMPHASIS, while some would argue unsolvable”. Really? What are they? But he doesn’t say what they are that are unsolvable.

Actually that would be nice to know what they are.
E:
I come here to learn about the East. I subscribed to this thread to find out more about Eastern Catechisms and I should have unsubscribed here five pages ago when I realized it would be more back-and-forth off-topic business-as-usual.
I even quoted an Eastern Bishop on this thread and got flack for THAT, because somehow he isn’t viewed as Eastern enough.

All and all, I think I’ve had my questions answered

And by this discussion I feel we are seeing that very point you make.
I’ll just note that the highlighting you added to the quote is a point you are highlighting.

Again, you and I hear two quite different things when looking at the same source.
